WRP & SM Action, MXGP 2023 Round 4 – Trentino, Italy Good Performance in the Home GP

ARCO DI TRENTO (IT) – The 2023 Trentino GP, the fourth round of the motocross world championship, kicks off against the historic backdrop of the mountains surrounding the Ciclamino circuit.

Weekend that includes the presence of the additional EMX250 and EMX125 classes, where the team from Modena lines up its full riders: Alberto Forato is present in the MXGP, Cornelius Tondel and Lorenzo Ciabatti in the MX2 class, while Federico Tuani is present in the EMX250. Luca Ruffini absent due to injury.

On Saturday Tuani in the EMX250 class struggles to find a good rhythm in timed practice and gets the sixteenth fastest time. At the start of race one he is forced to restart in last position, and after a good comeback he is in twentieth position at the checkered flag. Much better race on Sunday in race two, where after a start in the top 20 and a consistent race ends in thirteenth place. With these two results he is seventeenth in the day’s classification of the Trentino GP, while in the championship classification he is thirteenth after two rounds.

In the MXGP class Alberto Forato showed off already from timed practice, with the fifth fastest time. Unfortunately in the qualifying race Alberto didn’t get a good start, and after a couple of mistakes he finished in fifteenth position. In MX2 Tondel and Ciabatti get respectively the eleventh and twenty-eighth time in the timed qualifying, while in the qualifying race Tondel manages to repeat the result of the practice obtaining the eleventh place, Ciabatti manages to improve himself and at the checkered flag he is in twenty-fourth position.

On Sunday so much bad luck for the team in MX2, in race one after a contact Ciabatti is forced to retire, while Tondel recovering but not yet at 100% gets the eighteenth place. In race two bad luck hit the Norwegian rider, who after a contact at the start was forced to retire due to a technical problem. Ciabatti, hits the top 20, with a good nineteenth place, grit his teeth after a small physical problem caused by the crash in race one, and demonstrating good growth since the beginning of the season.

In the premier class, the MXGP, at the start of race one Forato hits the top ten, passing in ninth position at the end of the first lap. During the 30 minutes of the race he manages to recover in an excellent way in front of his home crowd, finishing in fifth position. Race two doesn’t go so well, and after a couple of mistakes too many we find Alberto in fifteenth position at the checkered flag. The sum of the two positions is worth the tenth place of the day, a result that is close to the driver from Veneto for what he showed in race one.

We will meet again the team involved in the second race of Italiano Prestige in Maggiora next Sunday.
