MT. MORRIS, Pennsylvania (June 18, 2023) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Jo Shimoda tied his season-best finish of fourth (7-3) at Round 4 of the Pro Motocross Championship at High Point Raceway. He also collected another moto podium with a third in Moto 2. Rookie Ryder DiFrancesco made his first trip to the hills of Pennsylvania and earned a season-best finish of his own in seventh overall (5-8). Carson Mumford and Jett Reynolds sat out the round at High Point Raceway to recover from injuries sustained last round.

Shimoda has been known to do well at High Point Raceway and came in with confidence to meet or beat his previous round results. The track received a lot of rain and was extremely muddy as the riders went out for qualifying, where Shimoda would earn fourth overall. Even after several sessions on the track, a few corners were deep with mud, and after a great start around the first turn in Moto 1, Shimoda’s front wheel got stuck in the mud and tipped him over in the second turn. He recovered quickly and pushed his way through the pack to come back from 13th to seventh. Moto 2 was much better for the rider out of Japan who started fifth and made a late race charge for his second moto podium in third. His 7-3 awarded his fourth overall, tying his season-best finish of the season.

“I’m happy with the progress we’re making each week and I just need to stop making costly mistakes,” said Shimoda. “Things haven’t really gone my way but I’m up for the challenge and I can’t wait to get to RedBud in a few weeks where I got my first overall.”

It was a good first trip to High Point Raceway for the young rider DiFrancesco. He used the qualifying sessions to learn the track, ending up 15th overall to start the day. When the gate dropped for Moto 1, the No. 75 was near the front and avoided the pile-up behind his teammate, finding himself in fourth. He rode in fourth for much of the race eventually crossing the finish line in fifth – DiFrancesco’s season-best moto result. He got another great start in Moto 2, but wasn’t able to hold off the charges of a few riders, finishing the moto in eighth for seventh overall.

“I’m happy with the day overall,” said DiFrancesco. “It’s a challenging track and the rain made it even more demanding each moto. I think we learned a lot here and I’m really excited to go back to RedBud where I made my pro debut last year.”
