Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Mumford Finishes Eighth in Denver

DENVER (May 7, 2023) – Monster Energy Pro Circuit Kawasaki’s Carson Mumford enjoyed a solid finish at the penultimate round of the Western Regional 250SX, crossing the finish line in eighth at Empower Field at Mile High. The day included Mumford leading laps in his heat race and two impressive starts that he can build on for next weekend’s final race. Even with only four races under his belt this season, Mumford has nearly made his way into the top 10 in championship points, currently 12th.

Mumford’s day started with the seventh-fastest time in qualifying as he learned and adapted to the high elevation that comes with racing in the Mile High City. With a great start in his heat race, Mumford raced hard and found his way to the front. He raced well, but lappers played a factor in losing the lead and ultimately came across third to start the night off right. When the gate dropped for the main event, Mumford executed another great start aboard his Kawasaki KX250 and found himself fourth after the first lap. He settled into sixth for most of the race but with the altitude taking its toll, Mumford finished the night in eighth.

“It’s definitely tough racing at altitude, and with me having a shorter amount of time on the bike, I wasn’t able to get the finish I was hoping for,” said Mumford. “I think we learned a lot, and I can do what I can this week to bring my best to another altitude race at Salt Lake City next week. It was a good day showcasing some speed in the heat, and I’m excited to end the season strong.”
